Bible Quotations
Unless otherwise noted, Scripture quotations throughout this site are from the ESV® Bible (English Standard Version).
Divine Name Rendering
The ESV normally renders the divine name, the Tetragrammaton (יהוה), as “LORD” in small capitals, and sometimes as “GOD” when paired with “Lord.” This site renders it as “Yahweh” to preserve the personal and covenantal weight of the name. Apart from this divine-name rendering, ESV wording is otherwise retained.
Own-Translation Articles
The exegesis and reference pages work closely with the original-language texts. Translations in those articles are the author’s own working renderings, produced for exegetical clarity rather than as literary translations.
References-Only Articles
Some articles primarily cite Scripture references (e.g., Genesis 1:1) rather than quoting extended passages. For those articles, readers are encouraged to follow the references in the ESV or another reliable translation.
Method
Scripture is quoted or cited at key argumentative hinges — where the biblical text itself drives the reasoning — rather than assembled as a collection of proof-texts after conclusions have already been drawn. The goal is to show how Scripture’s own categories, narrative logic, and canonical shape generate the conclusions that follow.
